About us

The Melbourne Hang Gliding Club was formed by a small number of pilots from Victoria’s Yarra Valley in the mid to late 80’s. Since the pioneering days, the club has enjoyed steady membership growth from pilots across Melbourne and Victoria. Club membership numbers are now 55+ with a monthly meeting attendance averaging around 20.

The MHGC offers regular monthly meetings (usually with a guest speaker), a book and magazine library, support to novice/restricted pilots, flying holidays, and safety seminars such as parachute repack nights, pilot rating nights, water landing nights and first aid courses. The MHGC aims to provide fun, yet safe flying in an environment where pilots can gain skills and experience under the guidance of many experienced pilots.
